Season Info

The following changes to the MBA Rules of Play have been made for the 2024-25 seaaon:

1.        That rule 12.1 be amended to read:
Person to Person Defence - Defence must be person to person. Zone defences of    any kind are not permitted in Division 3 and below.
 
2.        That rule 12.2 be amended to read:
No Double Teaming - Double teaming is not permitted. Help defence is permitted but not in a sustained manner such as a trap. When an offensive player has beaten their defender, another defender may step in to help momentarily but then must immediately return to guard their own offensive player or switch players to return to person to person. This rule does not apply to Division 1 or Division 2.

3.        Rule 13.1 be amended to read:
Equal Play - In all levels of Under 12 no one player shall play more than a one shift difference than any other teammate. Regarding the number of players for each team:
 
13.1.1 Should a player arrive to a game late or leave a game early they are required to play equal time for the portion of the game which they are at the game.
 
13.1.2 If 8 or more players have been used in accordance with “Equal Playing Time” by game's end, the game will be recorded as valid.
 
13.1.3 Each team shall be allowed to play with 7 players, but only on 2 occasions each regular season.
 
13.1.4 If only 7 players have been used in accordance with “Equal Playing Time” by games end, the scorer shall clearly record this on the score sheet. Games played with only 7 players will be tracked by the league, and games played with 7 players, after the first two, will be a default against the violating team.
 
13.1.5 If 7 or more players have not been used in accordance with “Equal Playing Time” by games end, the scorer shall record clearly on the score sheet that the game is a default against the violating team.
